ecobee in Metro Vancouver
Smart thermostat with a room sensor in the box — great for evening out hot/cold rooms, FortisBC rebate-eligible.

Why ecobee works in Metro Vancouver
ecobee’s signature advantage is the SmartSensor that comes in the box — it measures temperature and occupancy in another room (a bedroom, an office) so the system can balance comfort instead of only reading the hallway wall. For Metro Vancouver homes with a too-cold bedroom or a too-hot upstairs, that’s genuinely useful. The Premium model adds a built-in air-quality monitor and smart-home hub, and qualifying ecobee thermostats earn a FortisBC
rebate.

CANRO’s ecobee experience
CANRO supplies, installs, and configures ecobee thermostats across Metro Vancouver. As with any smart thermostat, the wins and the headaches come down to setup — correct system type, heat-pump reversing-valve and aux-heat staging, and a stable C-wire (ecobee includes a Power Extender Kit for homes without one). We place the included SmartSensor where it’ll do the most good and tune the comfort settings.

ecobee FAQs from Metro Vancouver homeowners
What makes ecobee different from Nest?+
ecobee includes a remote SmartSensor in the box, so it can read temperature and occupancy in another room and balance comfort — ideal if you have a cold bedroom or hot upstairs. Nest is better at learning your schedule automatically. Both qualify for the FortisBC rebate; CANRO installs both.
Do I need a C-wire for an ecobee?+
Not necessarily — ecobee ships with a Power Extender Kit that lets it run without a dedicated C-wire in many homes. If your wiring needs it, CANRO installs the PEK or runs a proper C-wire so the thermostat is reliable.
Does ecobee work with a heat pump?+
Yes — ecobee supports single- and multi-stage heat pumps, including dual-fuel (heat pump + gas furnace) setups. Correct reversing-valve (O/B) and auxiliary-heat configuration is essential; CANRO sets that up so the system runs efficiently.
Does an ecobee qualify for a FortisBC rebate?+
Yes — qualifying ecobee smart thermostats are eligible for a FortisBC rebate (about $50). CANRO confirms eligibility and can file the paperwork.
Can CANRO install an ecobee I bought myself?+
Yes — we install and fully configure homeowner-supplied ecobee thermostats, place the SmartSensor effectively, and verify heat-pump or multi-stage settings.

Why should I choose CANRO over other HVAC companies?
CANRO has been operating in Metro Vancouver since 1999 with a 4.9-star rating from 85+ Google reviews.
