Will a Nest work with my furnace or heat pump?+
Nest works with most 24V gas furnaces, air conditioners, and many heat pumps. The two things to check are a C-wire (common wire) for steady power and, on heat pumps, the correct O/B reversing-valve and auxiliary-heat setup. CANRO confirms compatibility before installing — and adds a C-wire if yours doesn’t have one.
Do I need a C-wire for a Nest?+
The Learning Thermostat can sometimes run without one, but a C-wire is strongly recommended — missing-C-wire power issues are the most common Nest complaint we’re called to fix. CANRO can run a C-wire during installation so the thermostat is reliable.
Does a Nest qualify for a FortisBC rebate?+
Yes — qualifying smart thermostats (including Nest models) are eligible for a FortisBC rebate (about $50). CANRO confirms current eligibility and can handle the paperwork.
Is Nest or ecobee better?+
Both are excellent. Nest is best at learning your schedule automatically and has the cleaner, simpler interface; ecobee includes a remote room sensor in the box and supports more sensors for multi-room balancing. CANRO installs both and recommends based on your home and how hands-on you want to be.
Can CANRO install a Nest I already bought?+

Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Free in-home estimates are provided for boiler, furnace, heat pump and water-heater replacements. Diagnostic visits for repairs carry a flat service fee that is credited toward the repair if you proceed.

Do you offer government rebates for heat pumps?
Yes. We are a registered contractor for BC Hydro, FortisBC and federal Greener Homes rebates. A high-efficiency heat pump installation can qualify for significant combined rebates depending on your home, equipment and income, and we handle the paperwork for you.
How quickly can you replace a broken hot water tank?
Standard 40 or 50-gallon gas or electric tanks are typically replaced same-day or next-day from stock. Tankless water heaters and larger-capacity units usually take 1–3 business days depending on parts availability.
