Replacing an old boiler with a high-efficiency condensing model cuts gas bills, improves comfort, and can unlock rebates. CANRO sizes and installs it right. CANRO Heating & Cooling has serviced residential boilers across Greater Vancouver since 1999. Call (604) 359-1081 or book a licensed boiler technician.

Modern condensing boilers can reach over 90% efficiency — far above an old cast-iron unit — so they heat your home for less and qualify for incentives an old boiler can’t. CANRO assesses your home and hydronic system, sizes the replacement correctly, and installs it cleanly and to code, with rebate paperwork handled.

Same-day boiler diagnostics. Licensed gas technicians. Free written quotes on replacement.

Repair or replace? An honest assessment

We don’t replace a boiler that can be economically repaired. But when a boiler is past ~15–20 years, the repair is large (a cracked heat exchanger or scarce part), or bills and breakdowns are climbing, replacement is the smarter spend. See boiler repair vs replacement for the full breakdown — or we’ll give you both numbers in person.

Signs replacement may be the right call

  • The boiler is near or past its expected service life.
  • A major part (heat exchanger) has failed.
  • Repairs are stacking up season after season.
  • Gas bills keep climbing for the same comfort.
  • Parts are scarce or discontinued.

Brands we install

We install and are experienced with Super Hot (BC-built), Burnham, Weil-McLain and other major residential boiler brands — and we’ll help you choose the right model for your home, hydronic system, budget and rebate eligibility. We make no “authorized dealer” claims; we offer genuine experience and licensed installation.

Experienced with your boiler brand

Our technicians are familiar with every major residential boiler brand, including the three we’re asked about most:

We service these brands — we make no “authorized” or “official service centre” claims. What we offer is genuine experience, licensed gas and boiler technicians, and honest pricing.

Rebates & financing for boiler upgrades

Replacing an old boiler with a high-efficiency condensing boiler can qualify for BC incentives — depending on your home and equipment, that can include FortisBC and CleanBC Better Homes rebates, plus the interest-free federal Greener Homes Loan (up to $40,000). CANRO confirms exactly what you qualify for and handles the paperwork. Prefer to spread the cost? We offer flexible financing. See current rebates & financing →

Why a licensed boiler technician — not DIY

A residential boiler combines gas (or oil), high-temperature water under pressure, electrical controls and sealed combustion. Work on any of those by an untrained hand is genuinely dangerous — gas leaks, carbon monoxide, scalding and electrical shock are all real risks. In BC, gas and boiler work must be done by a TSBC-licensed technician, and doing it yourself can void your warranty and your insurance. A CANRO technician diagnoses your boiler properly, repairs it to code, and confirms it is safe before leaving. If a part is unsafe or worn, we tell you honestly.

  • Permits & code-compliant work. We pull the permits required and install to gas and hydronic code.
  • Manufacturer + workmanship warranties. Factory-backed parts plus our own labour guarantee.
  • 4.9★ from 85+ Google reviews. Read our reviews — our own technicians, never subcontractors.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new boiler cost in Vancouver?

A high-efficiency residential boiler, supplied and installed, typically runs in the five figures depending on output, combi vs system, and any piping or venting changes — before rebates. We quote in writing after assessing your home.

Do new boilers qualify for rebates?

High-efficiency condensing boilers can qualify for FortisBC and CleanBC incentives, plus the interest-free federal Greener Homes Loan. We confirm eligibility and handle the paperwork.

Can you finance a boiler replacement?

Yes — we offer flexible financing so you can replace now and pay over time, and we combine it with any rebates to lower the total.

How long does a boiler installation take?

A straightforward swap is often one to two days; system changes take longer. We give you a clear timeline and upfront written quote first.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

How often should a boiler be serviced?
Annual servicing is recommended for all residential boilers. CANRO's annual service includes combustion analysis, heat exchanger inspection, expansion tank pressure check, condensate trap cleaning, and a full safety check. Annual maintenance is also required to keep most manufacturer warranties valid.
How much does a new boiler cost in Vancouver?
A typical residential high-efficiency gas boiler in Metro Vancouver costs $7,500–$15,000 installed, depending on size, brand, and whether the system is heating only or a combi unit that also handles hot water. CANRO provides a free written quote with three options at different price points.
How long does a boiler last?
A well-maintained cast-iron boiler can last 25–30 years, a modern high-efficiency condensing boiler typically lasts 15–20 years, and a combi boiler 12–18 years. Annual servicing has the single biggest impact on lifespan.
My boiler is making a banging or kettling noise. Is that dangerous?
Kettling (a banging or whistling sound) is usually caused by limescale build-up on the heat exchanger and is a sign the system is overheating in localised spots. It will not always cause immediate failure but it shortens the life of the boiler and should be addressed within a few weeks.
Do you service Viessmann, IBC, Baxi, Laars, and Weil-McLain boilers?
Yes. CANRO is one of the few HVAC companies in the Lower Mainland with deep experience on European and high-end North American boilers including Viessmann, IBC, Baxi, Laars, Weil-McLain, NTI, Navien and Rinnai. We carry common parts in the truck.
Should I repair or replace my old boiler?
A useful rule: if the boiler is more than 15 years old and the repair cost is more than 50% of replacement, replacement is the better investment. CANRO will give you both a repair quote and a replacement quote and let you decide.
What HVAC services does CANRO offer in Metro Vancouver?
CANRO installs, services and repairs boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, hot water tanks, tankless water heaters, gas fireplaces and air conditioning across Metro Vancouver. We work on residential homes, townhouses and condos throughout the Lower Mainland.
How long has CANRO been in business?
CANRO has been serving the Greater Vancouver area since 1999. Our founder George is recognised by customers as one of the most experienced boiler and hydronic heating technicians in the Lower Mainland.
What areas do you serve?
We cover all of Metro Vancouver: Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, New Westminster, Delta, Langley, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, White Rock, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge.
