Tier 1 — Premium Japanese (Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu)

  • Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating: Best cold-climate performance, quietest outdoor units, strongest local parts network. Premium price.
  • Daikin Aurora / Atmosphera: Equal performance to Mitsubishi at slightly lower price. Excellent build quality.
  • Fujitsu Halcyon XLTH: Best slim-line floor and ceiling-cassette options. Slightly weaker local parts depot.

Tier 2 — North American Premium (Carrier, Lennox, Trane)

  • Carrier Greenspeed Infinity 25VNA0: Strong cold-climate performance, excellent control integration. Slightly higher service-call rate than Tier 1.
  • Lennox SL25XPV: Top-tier efficiency (HSPF2 11+), beautiful aesthetics, premium pricing, smaller parts network in BC.
  • Trane / American Standard: Solid build, good warranty, slightly behind on inverter tech.

Tier 3 — Strong Value (Bosch, Bryant, Goodman)

  • Bosch IDS Premium: Great value cold-climate option, European engineering, growing parts availability.
  • Bryant Evolution Extreme: Carrier sibling, slightly lower price, same reliability.
  • Goodman GVZC20: Budget-tier with surprisingly long warranty (12 years parts), best for cost-sensitive projects.

Tier 4 — Budget (Gree, Senville, Pioneer)

Strong value for single-zone applications, smaller installs, or rental-property retrofits. Service network is thinner. Acceptable for project where the dollars matter more than the 20-year horizon.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Does CANRO install all these brands?
We are factory-trained Elite Dealers on Mitsubishi, Daikin Comfort Pro, Fujitsu Elite, and authorized installer on Carrier, Lennox, Bosch, Bryant, Goodman. We do not install no-name imports.
What about Samsung and LG heat pumps?
Strong technology but North American service network is still developing. We install them on request, not as a default recommendation.
Which brand has the best app?
Mitsubishi Kumo Cloud and Daikin ONE+ are excellent. Carrier Cor and Lennox iComfort are improving. Fujitsu requires an add-on Wi-Fi adapter.
Will brand matter if I move?
Heat pump brand is rarely on a home inspection report. What matters at resale is "heat pump installed" — the brand is secondary.

Frequently asked questions

Is a heat pump worth it in Vancouver?
Yes. Vancouver's mild winters (average lows above -5°C) are ideal for cold-climate heat pumps. A properly sized modern heat pump can cover 100% of heating and cooling for most homes, cut heating bills by 30–60% versus electric baseboards or oil, and qualifies for combined BC Hydro, FortisBC and federal rebates.
What rebates are available for heat pumps in BC?
Review current Better Homes BC and utility program requirements for your property and equipment before installation. Amounts, application steps and permitted combinations vary. The Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan are closed to new applications; previously approved applicants should follow their own file requirements.
Should I get a ducted heat pump or ductless mini-split?
If you already have ductwork from a furnace, a ducted central heat pump is usually the better choice for whole-home comfort. Ductless mini-splits are ideal for additions, suites, garage conversions, and homes without ducts (radiant heated houses).
How long does a heat pump last?
A modern heat pump installed by a qualified contractor typically lasts 15–20 years. Annual maintenance, regular filter changes and keeping the outdoor coil clear of leaves and debris all extend service life.
Do heat pumps work in cold weather?
Modern cold-climate heat pumps from Mitsubishi, Daikin, Carrier, Lennox and Bosch maintain rated capacity down to -15°C and continue producing heat (at reduced capacity) down to -25°C — far colder than Metro Vancouver ever gets.
What HVAC services does CANRO offer in Metro Vancouver?
CANRO installs, services and repairs boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, hot water tanks, tankless water heaters, gas fireplaces and air conditioning across Metro Vancouver. We work on residential homes, townhouses and condos throughout the Lower Mainland.
